Kerri: We made it through with no problems thanks be to the Lord. Will try to put up a new post soon. We are keeping an eye on IKE and praying. I'll be glad when this hurricane season is over :)
J'laine: Hi Kerri, thanks for stopping in and the kind words about my dogs. See you are in the Gulf Coast-hope you made it through the storm okay. Really like you site-care to ex links? Take care and have a great week.
Lauralee: Love your layout. I'll be visiting here often as I have time between classes and studying.
Ms. Em-gee: Thank you for the message.
dalia: hi! like ur layout! blog hopping
Kerri: I thought of you Pam this morning when our pastor taught Pr 14:25 A true witness delivereth souls: but a deceitful witness speaketh lies. Who have you delivered from what? You want to deliver people into the bondage of the RCC. My heart's desire is they find the freedom of trusting in Christ alone!
Kerri: Pam, I know what the RCC teaches is NOT supported by SCRIPTURE. I have never shown hatred to you and you are falsely accusing me to say I have. I suggest instead of getting angry at me for saying the truth you read the two posts here and consider them. The RCC won't teach the truth of what the Bible says about sin and how to deal with it.
Pam: Kerri, your hatred, ignorance, and bull-headedness is astounding. You should know about the church before you try to talk about it. (The Bible, too.) To anyone who wants to know what Catholics REALLY believe, ask a devout Catholic, not an anti-Catholic bigot. My blog link is attached. Ask me what I believe, why, and why I left Protestantism to go Home to Rome.
Kerri: Pam, I have read your new blog. As far as the Word of God - Yes, Jesus is the WORD of God, but the Bible is the written word of God. You can mock if you wish, but you will regret it one day. As far as the other nonsense it is RCC lies and propaganda.
Pam: P.S. You'll have to post on the new blog from now on out b/c I am leaving Bravenet for the more interactive blogs at Google.
Pam: Traditions of man? This coming from someone who's beliefs only date back to the 17th century. History class, honey. Take it. I'll pay for it. The Word of God, Kerri, is CHRIST, not a version of the Bible created in 1611 and "authorized" by a homosexual.
Kerri: Chloe, it is always nice to hear from you.
Kerri: Pam, I suggest you pay more attention to the Word of God than traditions of man. Man did not give us the Bible - God did.
Chloe: Hi, Kerri! Thanks for the comment:) It was wonderful to get to know more about you that way:) God bless you.
Pam: Kerri, I am Catholic, a memeber of the church that gave you that Bible that you wave around so flippantly. Futhermore, YOU could use some time in a history class ... and perhaps one on reputable journalism. Your links, like your preaching, are always in error ... full of lies and falsehoods. I will continue to pray for your misguided soul.
Kerri: Pam, quite honestly you could use some time under good Bible teaching instead of "talks" .
Pam: Kerri, the Steve Ray thing could be interested. I often frequent talks by apologeticists just to hear what they have to say ... at the very least it keeps the old grey matter working. :D
Nikki: Just Stopping By.
Kerri: Pam, thanks for the suggestion. I don't have any fears, just a desire to see people believe God and know they are saved going to Heaven. I will try and get to your and Jeff's comments soon - busy here right now.
Pam : Steve Ray will be speaking in the Gulf Coast area. You should go. He's a convert to Catholicism ... you can take your fears to someone who can answer you in person.
Chloe: Hi, Kerri. Thanks for the nice comment you left at my blog entry about my Mom. God bless...
Joseph - Director: hello, just wanted to pop in and say hi. hope to see you on my blog!
Chloe: Hello, Kerri. It's been a while since I've heard from you. I'm glad you checked me out:) Oh, the trailer for the animated film was in Tagalog language (the national language of the Philippines, my country). That film was done by Filipino animators, a lot of whom work for Disney, etc. Yeah, I'd like to watch that movie when I find time, ha ha. God bless...
nightrider: Heeeelllloooo you, just popin by to say hi!!
nightrider: Hey youJust stopping by to say his

The Trans Canada Trail web page has a virtual map of the trail across Canada and when you sign up you can log your kilometers or steps that you walk each day and the trail is highlighted for the amount you would have covered had you been walking the actual trail. Nice to see how far you have gone. I am a step counter and so far have walked from Victoria past Chilliwack alongthe Virtual trail Greg

Devil's Day?

I have heard it said that today, Oct 31st also known as Halloween is the devil's day. Is it the devil's day? NO and we will not give any day to the devil - the Bible says Psalms 118:24 This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  The Lord makes every day and they belong to HIM, so the day itself doesn't belong to satan.

However the supposed "holiday" Halloween, that is another story. You see the devil would like people to believe he is strong enough to claim the day and exercise his "power" and he has indeed used this day through much of history to weave his webs of deceit around man's heart.

The history of Halloween lies in the Celtic history of Ireland. Here is an excert of the history of halloween from the History Channel (not my favorite source -especially for things regarding religion, but here they don't do too bad) -

"Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in).

The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom, and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1. This day marked the end of summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the new year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth. In addition to causing trouble and damaging crops, Celts thought that the presence of the otherworldly spirits made it easier for the Druids, or Celtic priests, to make predictions about the future. For a people entirely dependent on the volatile natural world, these prophecies were an important source of comfort and direction during the long, dark winter.

To commemorate the event, Druids built huge sacred bonfires, where the people gathered to burn crops and animals as sacrifices to the Celtic deities.

During the celebration, the Celts wore costumes, typically consisting of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other's fortunes. When the celebration was over, they re-lit their hearth fires, which they had extinguished earlier that evening, from the sacred bonfire to help protect them during the coming winter."

So how does that affect us today? Is it still a day used to worship false gods? YES. If you look at the Wiccan/Pagan religion you will find that they teach -

One of the 4 major Sabbats, Samhain, our time of endings and our time of beginnings. Samhain is the Witches' New Year. It is said to be the time when the veil between the worlds is very thin, when souls are leaving this physical plane and souls are coming back (reincarnating). Samhain is when darkness increases. The Goddess reigns as the Crone and the God, Dark Lord, passes into the underworld to become the seed of his own rebirth. Divination is heightened on this night.

Samhain is also known as Halloween, All Hollows Eve, Day of the Dead, All Saint's Eve, Celtic Winter, Feast of Spirits, Celtic New Year, and Samhuinn and is celebrated on October 31st.

Symbols used to represent Samhain are: jack-o'-lantern, masks, cauldron, Waning Moon.

Now ask yourself should a Christian be celebrating this? Especially with the same trappings used by those who worship a fasle god?

The Lord has told us in the Bible - Deuteronomy 18:10-12a "There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch,  Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer (communicating with the dead).  For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD"

The Bible also says - Leviticus 19:31 Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

I don't believe we need to be celebrating and giving glory to creatures of darkness - such as witches, ghosts, devils, vampires etc.  In 2Corinthians 6:14  the Lord tells us - Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Too many in the world will be using this day for darkness - if you are a Christian use it for light! Pass out tracts, be a witness. There is only ONE God - all who are worshipping goddesses and pagan deities are worshipping satan although they do not realize it. They do not even believe in satan, but false gods, religions and doctrines come straight from the devil's deceptions.

Make sure you use this day for the LORD!

I will confess, I allow my boys to dress up and go and trick or treating. I had such fond memories of my dad, who abandoned us later on, and my mom making candied or caramel apples. Dressing us up.

I want my kids to have that also. We, as children, only knew that we got to play dress up and got a lot of free candy.

I know when my boys are older they will learn the truth. But, I just don't want them to miss out with their dad and me.

Btw, it is a special day, it is my sister's birthday.

Great and very informative post.

Whether or not you celebrate it and how is between you and God. I just mainly encourage ones I talk with if they are going to dress up - chose something that would be pleasing to God not witches and devils and such. Even more important I suggest using the day to reach people for the Lord. We don't have any trick or treaters but I wish we did - I love to give tract out with the candy. If someone is going to go door to door trick or treating I suggest they give a tract when they say thank you for the candy. A great source of tracts is linked to my name here. They have tracts for year round needs and chick tracts get read!

We did a trio of events, each with its own costume -- Snow White, a jelly fish, and a spider.

I gave out candy and coupons for FlavoRx at my door. (That stuff comes in handy when you have a sick kiddo ... but it costs $2.99 each time ... the coupons I gave out were for free flavorings.)

One year I gave out PETA packs -- bags with candy and information on animal rights.

Tracts are an interesting idea ... I might use that one next year.
