Well the storms have settled for now. Thankfully Gustav didn't cause much problems here in Mississippi, at least not in our area. My sympathy goes to those in TX where Ike went. I was amazed and aggrevated at the number of people who did not respond to the warnings there. They are very blessed more did not end up dead. I hope they realize it was only God's mercy!
How much they remind me of the people all around us who hear the warnings that judgment awaits after death, but they do not heed the warning. They refuse to turn from their sin and trust Jesus as their Saviour. For those there will be no mercy - only an eternity separated from God in fiery torments.
Otherwise here on the homefront. I have started homeschooling a friend's niece. I love teaching and working with young people. This girl has such a heart to love and serve God. It is a real blessing for me to work with her.
She is in 10th grade and we have some very intersting subjects picked out for the year. We have English, World Lit and Spelling; we have Geometry and Consumer Math. Then we have World Geography, Civics and Astronomy. Civics is a half year course, then we will have Mississippi History. It is a busy year, but a lot of fun subjects. This is a great time to be studying civics with the election - wonderful project opportunities. The Lord has also let me find some great sites and information to go with our astronomy course. I thing she is enjoying the year so far and I know I am. I am planning some neat field trips for later in the year.
Another thing I was busy with is taking pictures to enter in a photo contest. I finally chose three of the flower pictures I have taken over the past few months. One has a camellia, one is of azaleas, and the other one is of a very large hibiscus. I enjoyed taking the pictures, but I would really love it if one of them won the contest. This isn't the picture I entered but it is a picture of the same big hibiscus. Isn't the color of the flower beautiful?
