Fear Not!

Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. (Luke 2:10b)

This world is full of fear. People fear what the economy is going to do, they fear wars, nuclear attacks and destruction, and global warming. On a more personal basis, they fear crime, germs, disease, aloneness and we could go on and on listing fears people face everyday. Most fears, not all, but most, have basis in the fact that people fear death. For example, the germophobe fears getting a germ that will kill him. Those who fear being robbed and killed, buy locks and devices to protect themselves  - sometimes the devices are successful and sometimes they aren't.

The bad news is whatever you do, sooner or later, you are going to die. Death is a fearful thing because in each of us, God has put the knowledge, even though some lie to themselves and convince themselves otherwise, God has put  the knowledge in us that there is a God we must answer to and there is something other than just this life. The Bible warns us "it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" (Hebrews 9:27b)

That is bad news for all who have never been saved, because the Bible tells us - each and everyone of us are sinners. We are born under a sentence of condemnation that comes in effect the moment we enter the age of accountability. The Bible says in Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" and Romans 6:23a, says, "For the wages of sin is death" That isn't just talking about physical death, but eternal spiritual death (separation from God) in the torments of the Lake of Fire. (And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Rev. 20:15)

There is good news though.  We do not have to live in fear. We can have the peace of God. The verse in Romans (6:23) that tells us of our judgement, also tells us of our hope in the last half of the verse :"but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."  Jesus came to make a way to reconcile us to God and to make a way we could have eternal life and break death's power over us.

When Jesus was born the angel announced : "Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." The message I bring you today is the same - Fear not - there is a Saviour for you if you will only trust Him. Jesus, who is God in the flesh, lived a sinless life, didn't have to die, but let them beat Him and nail Him to a cross, to take the punishment for our sins (yours and mine). He died in our place. He suffered all the agonies of Hell on the cross and knew the separation from God that we deserve. He died and was buried, but the 3rd day He, bodily, got up from the grave - ALIVE - in victory over sin, hell, and DEATH. Hebrews 2:14-15 says, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he (Jesus) also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;  And deliver them who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage."

If a person will believe God that they are a sinner on their way to Hell and that there is NOTHING they can do to save themselves, if they will realize their sins can only be washed away by the blood of Christ, that Jesus did everything needed to provide them salvation when He died and rose again, and will simple reach out to Him in faith, believing Him and ask Him to save them based on what He did - HE WILL! If YOU will do that, He will break the bondage of fear you may be in and give you peace. 1 John 4:18 says, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love."  I urge you let Jesus take away your fear, forgive your sin, reconcile you to God and give you peace.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Romans 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

DON'T BE AFRAID - CALL TODAY!

I know that the Lord told us not to be afraid, remember "O ye of little faith." A small but smart rebuke.

We have nothing to fear, because through death (for believers) their is life eternal.
